Introduction

Major advances have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of glottic tumours in recent years. Correct use of modern instruments enables the diagnosis to be made ever earlier on the basis of simple, but fundamental information. A precise diagnosis is essential for proper staging of the disease, which in turn is the basis for the therapeutic choice; it is accurate staging that enables the choice of the best surgical approach to cure the patient.
This course explains the various aspects to consider in order to plan the surgical excision of early stage glottic carcinoma correctly, highlighting the key anatomical points of importance when choosing the type of surgery. The first section of the course (modules 1 and 2) covers the epidemiology and diagnosis of glottic cancers, showing how the approach to the disease is evolving continuously. The second section (modules 3 and 4) concentrates on the treatment, with the first part entirely devoted to the surgical instruments used and the last part illustrating the different endoscopic cordectomies, going through the various stages of the intervention. The subject is made more accessible and enjoyable by the use of commentated videos.
The aim of the course is to provide simple, clear indications to enable the participant to correctly deal with this pathology.
